Justina A. (Phillip) "Jessie" Koresh

Justina Ann “Jessie” Koresh age 94 of Prairie du Chien passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born April 24, 1926 in Eastman, WI the daughter of John and Margaret (Wall) Phillip. She grew up on the family farm and later moved to Prairie du Chien where she graduated from Prairie du Chien High School.  She married Vernon Koresh on May 29, 1945 at St. John’s Church in Prairie du Chien.  He preceded her in death on December 18, 1993. She was an active member of St. John’s Parish and loved to cook, bake and tend her gardens.  Justina had a green thumb and was passionate about her vegetable and flower gardens.  She worked at Jeffer’s Night Club before moving to Kaber’s Supper Club in Prairie du Chien where she waitressed until she retired in 2006 at the age of 80. Justina especially loved bagging cheese curds and making cheese trays at her son’s liquor store; Eunice’s Liquor and Cheese. She was an animal lover and always had a pet cat but most of all Justina enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Aurilla Koresh, her sons, Brian (Sue) and Todd (Deanna) Koresh, her grandchildren Francis (Tasha) and Jacob (Kari) Koresh, Sara (Holden) Stuckey, Peggy and Sadie Koresh, great grandchildren, Blake, Tanner, Maci, and Hayden, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Jackie Phillip, and her sisters, Mildred (Peter) Prew, Patricia (Clifford) Wachuta, Laurayne (Paul) Prew and Sr. Augusta Phillip F.S.P.A.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held according to CDC Guidelines on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien.  The family requests that attendees utilize masks and practice social distancing.
