Kelly D. Mundt age 66 of Prairie du Chien passed away suddenly Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. He was born April 2, 1944 in Castalia, IA, the son of Leslie and Leora (Bloxham) Mundt. After graduating from South Winneshiek High School at the age of 16, Kelly began his training to become an X-ray and lab technician in the healthcare field. He started his career in Red Oak, IA before moving to work at the Richland Hospital in Richland Center, WI. He married Ruth Fry on December 5, 1964 in Richland Center. He later joined the staff of the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital where he worked for over 40 years before retiring as the Director of Diagnostics in 2009. In his year of retirement Kelly enjoyed golfing, gambling, and learning to fish with his grandsons. He fulfilled one of his final wishes, to be an organ donor. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ruth of Prairie du Chien, a son John and his wife Vickie (Valley) of Prairie du Chien, a daughter Kristin Mundt and her husband Michael Statz of Portage, WI, two brothers; Donald (Joyce) of Connecticut and Craig (Linda) of Ossian, IA, his two grandsons, Liam and Aidan Statz, nieces, nephews and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sister Shelby Mundt.
