Lawrence J. Becwar

Lawrence J. Becwar, age 91 of Ferryville passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua, WI. He was born April 1, 1929 in Eastman, WI, the son of Henry and Susan (Zinkle) Becwar. He married Jeanette Caya on October 18, 1947 at St. Wenceslaus Church in Eastman. Together they farmed in the Eastman and Mt. Sterling area. She preceded him in death in 2011. He was an active member of the Catholic Church, both in the St. Wenceslaus Parish in Eastman and the St. Patrick’s Parish in Seneca. He was also a member of the Country Music Association and enjoyed dancing and the many friendships formed in the organization over the years, in particular the Friday evening dances at Huckleberry’s Restaurant in Prairie du Chien.

He is survived by his children Larry Becwar of Seneca, WI, Jerry (Lee) Becwar of Mt. Sterling, WI, Ron (Bev) Becwar of Gays Mills, WI, Barbara Lynch of Alma, WI, David (Barb) Becwar of Ferryville, WI, Phil (Judy) Becwar of Prairie du Chien, WI, Laurie (John) Mettling of Pine City, MN, Mike Becwar of Seattle, WA, and Tamara (Tim) Multerer of Golden Valley, MN; 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a special friend Alice McCauley of Richland Center, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Ray Becwar, Dan Becwar, Mary Cody, and Margaret Becwar.

A private family service will be held graveside at Dickson Ridge Cemetery in Lynxville, WI with Reverend Zacharie Beya officiating.
