Leo Lester Zimmerman

Leo L. Zimmerman, age 90 of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022. Leo was born in Prairie du Chien on February 21, 1932, the son of Steve Sr. & Ardelle (Zabel) Zimmerman. Leo married Mildred Check on June 17,1953 at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. Leo worked on the family farm in rural Prairie du Chien raising hogs and beef cattle with his dad and brother until 1985. He then went to work for Orrel Broadbent, building homes in the area until retirement in 1991. Leo loved to hunt and spending time doing woodworking in his shop. Leo is survived by his wife of 68 years Mildred of Prairie du Chien and a brother Steve “Tim” (Debra) Zimmerman of Bloomington, WI. He is also survived by two special nieces, Krista (Frank Cipra) Zimmerman and Alisha (Troy) Smrcina both of Prairie du Chien, as well as many other nieces and nephews. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters; Cordelia Titlbach, Eva Davis and Marilyn Paczynski and 1 brother, Eldon Zimmerman.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 31, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the Garrity Funeral Home on Thursday from 8:30 A.M. until the time of departure for church.
