Loren Patrick Fishler, 83, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Monday, November 21, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born August 22, 1939, the son of Joseph and Isabel (Kirschbaum) Fishler, in rural Bagley, WI, at his family home on the farm. Loren attended elementary school at the Glass Hollow School, rural Bagley, and later graduated from Bagley High School in 1957. He started his first job at the Hazelton Cheese Factory hauling milk while working a side job at Tri State Breeders Cooperative. Loren worked at General Motors in Janesville for a few years before enlisting in the Army National Guard. He did his basic training in Kentucky and continued his guard duty with weekend drills once a month until 1969.
Loren met the love of his life at the local Checkerboard. After one month of dating, Loren proposed to his sweetheart, Diane. The next year, Loren and Diane were married on September 18, 1965, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman, WI. They made their home in the Bagley area and later moved to the Bridgeport area the next year, when they purchased their first farm together. To this union, they began their family. Loren loved the land, and created many great family memories. He took great pride in what he did for his family every day, teaching them life lessons and family values on the farm. Loren also was a Carhart Seed dealer for many years.
Loren was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and his family and friends meant everything to him. Loren will be greatly missed, yet a part of him will live on in those who loved him. Loren is survived by his four children, Rodney and Angie (Picha) Fishler, Tammy and Patrick Nolan, Mark Fishler, and Kelly Fishler, all of the Prairie du Chien area; eight grandchildren, Blake, Emily, and Jacob Fishler, Rachael, Eric, Alexis, and Lindsey Nolan, and Gabe Munson Fishler. Loren’s wife passed away last month on October 21, 2022. Loren was also preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Doris Jelinek, Rose Ginsterblum, Margaret Marmann, and Donald Fishler.
