Mary Shaw Obituary

Mary E. Shaw age 88 of McGregor passed away Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, IA. She was born October 31, 1932 in McGregor, IA the daughter of Elmer and Leona (Hill) Hansen. She married John Shaw on December 15, 1951 in Des Moines, IA. She and John both worked for the Public Service Company of Colorado until their retirement. They enjoyed bowling, golf and vacationing around the country. Mary was a high school basketball star growing up in McGregor. Her team went 31-1 in 1949, suffering their only defeat at the Iowa State Basketball Tournament held at Drake University that year. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, John, her son Michael (Nancy) and her daughter Becky Peterman, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

According to Mary’s wishes there will be no formal funeral services.
