Mary Marcelene (Boylen) White

Mary M. White, age 85 of Prairie du Chien died on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. She was born on October 5, 1937 on the family farm in Plum Creek, to Lawrence and Irma (Nachreiner) Boylen. She married Edward J. White on August 9, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wauzeka, WI. Mary and Ed were the proud parents of three boys. She was a devoted wife and mother. Over the years, she attended countless ballgames and was a great fan of her sons and grandchildren. She was always up for a game of cards, and if there was a little time to talk on the phone, her day was complete. Mary was an active member of St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish. She was instrumental in establishing the Prairie du Chien Booster Club. Mary volunteered in the library at St. Gabriel’s Catholic School in Prairie du Chien and was always willing to help as needed. Mary’s beloved husband Edward preceded her in death on October 6, 2001. She is survived by her three sons Brian (Karen), Bruce (Kathy), and Brad (Lisa) White; her 2 sisters Pat Hazen and Diane (Todd) Caya and 2 brothers Rick (Marcia) and Larry (Sharon) Boylen; her sisters-in-law Sally White and Ica Boylen; her grandchildren Kyle (Kelly), Ashley, Chelsie (Nick), Chandler (Taylor), Seth, Drew, Carly, Rachel (Connor), and Karli (Alex); and her great grandchildren Brekkin, Parker, Palmer, Cannon, and Creed. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Kate Trehey and brother Jim Boylen.

A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating with inurnment in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the Garrity Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., and also at the church on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass. Mary’s family would like to say special thanks to the exceptional caregivers at Prairie Maison and Bluff Haven that helped her through her last year. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Prairie Catholic Schools.
