Milo J. Thornton Sr., age 73 of Eastman, WI passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 30, 2025, at his home. He was born in Waukon, IA on January 12, 1952, to Leroy and Betty Jean (Broszeit) Thornton. He attended Mar Mac School and began working shortly thereafter. He worked various jobs around Iowa before crossing the river to work for Ahrens Dairy Farm as a milk truck driver. He later worked for Design Homes in Prairie du Chien for over 30 years until retirement. Not only did Milo land a job in Prairie du Chien, but he also met the love of his life there. Milo married Janice Becwar on October 17, 1971, and together they made their home in Eastman, WI. He enjoyed many hobbies, particularly carpentry work. He loved to hunt and fish all year round, going as far as to hop from one piece of ice to another to catch a walleye by the dam near Lynxville, WI. He enjoyed going on camping trips on the Mississippi river whenever he could. Milo took great pride in his “house on the back street”. He kept the back alley clean and if kids were partying too long in the parking lot, he would send them home. The best parties were those held on the 4th of July with friends and family. Most of all, Milo was a proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Janice; children Milo Jr. “Buck” (Cheryl) Thornton, Brandee (Robert) Olson, and Karen (Dan) Snyder; grandchildren Dustin, Zach (Allie), Alexis (Branden), Taylor, Warren, and Layla; and great grandchildren Beau, Hank, and Gracelynn. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Beverly Martin and Richard Thornton.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 4, 2025, at Milo and Janice’s home in Eastman, WI, beginning at 11 AM. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family. www.garrityfuneralhome.com
