Philip passed away peacefully on April 17th at the age of 73. Survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary (nee Welsh). Beloved father of Sarah, Erin, and Brian (Tovah). Amazing grandpa to Lucas, Evelyn, Isabella, Harper and Sammy. Beloved brother of Tina.
Philip was born in Prairie du Chien, WI to Gordon and Marjorie (nee Kieser) Peckham in 1946. Phil was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse in January of 1969. He married Mary (Welsh) on June 28, 1969 at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien. Shortly after, Phil joined the Navy and served until 1973. After his discharge, Phil was recruited to work for the Federal Government first in Chicago,IL, then Parkersburg, WV, and finally in the Milwaukee, WI office of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. During his time at HUD, Phil was an advocate for affordable housing and fair housing practices for under-served populations in Wisconsin. He retired in 2004 after 31 years of service with the Federal Government.
Phil enjoyed sports, whether attending a Brewer’s game, his children’s games, or the State Basketball Tournament. He loved to travel, frequently taking the scenic route, or helping his kids add a new state to their “visited” maps. He enjoyed a wide variety of music and loved attending live music events.
Phil will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by both family and friends. Our lives have been enriched by his presence and our memories of him will forever bring a smile to our faces.
