Phyllis Weber Obituary

Phyllis Jeanne Weber passed away surrounded by family on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the age of 93 at Park Place Assisted Living facility in Platteville, Wisconsin. Phyllis was born on February 15, 1931, to Almon and Jeannetta (née Schaal) Wright on the family farm near Beetown, Wisconsin. Phyllis attended Muscallounge Country School often riding her horse together with her sister to school until 8th grade. She attended Bloomington High School and graduated in 1949. She married Gilbert Edward Weber on June 12, 1950, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington, Wisconsin. The couple farmed with Almon and Jeannette until Gib and Phyllis purchased the farm site and raised their family of 7 children. Phyllis was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was involved in many church activities and celebrations over her 74 years as a member. She worked at the Beetown Post Office after her family was raised for many years as a substitute for the postmaster. She was well respected for her job by those using the post office. She greeted each customer with a smile and a friendly “how can I help you today”. Phyllis sold Mary Kaye Products for a number of years hosting parties and distributing products to her many customers. As the family will attest, Phyllis was a creative and excellent cook and baker. Her large garden provided lots of good food and lots of Spring, Summer and Autumn work for the kids. She enjoyed her chickens and created a colorful collection of all things chicken from ceramics to tableware to embroidery that was displayed throughout the house. Phyllis was a dedicated and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Encouraging hard work, a strong faith, and emphasizing the importance of family every day of her life. Phyllis is survived by her children; Steven (Carol) Weber of Mankato, Minnesota, Laura (David) Doll of Wauzeka, Teresa (David) Moris of Beetown, Philip (Troy Newton) Weber of Portsmouth, Virginia, Deanna (William) Rodenkirch of Eastman, Alan (Melva) Weber of Bagley, and Debra (Mark) Sullivan of Plymouth, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren: Brianna (Elias Tovar), Quintin and Silas; Brian (Emily) Weber and Graham; Jennifer (Kurt Wehrle), Amelia and Cameron; Emily (Kenneth Buck), Kenneth, Jr., Isabel, James, Leo and Regina; Daniel Moris, Gavin and Draven; Kristin (Drew Ryan), Brody and Sydney; Steffanie (Brian Kohn), Sofie;  Stacia (Timothy Stephenson), Madison, Everly and Navy; Vanessa (Charlie Beckman), Olivia and Brooks; Weston and fiancée Kayla Bennett; Vincent (Mikayla) Weber, Baylor; Nicholas Weber, Kylee Weber, Mikaala Shackleford, Matthew Sullivan, and Benjamin Sullivan. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, her parents, Almon and Jeannetta Wright, and her sister, Lois Calder. The family would like to extend special appreciation and most sincere thank you to the staff at Park Place for all they did to assist the family during Phyllis’ final days and all the care and compassion they provided Phyllis during her time there.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday January 24, 2025, at 12:00 P.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington, WI, Fr. Mark Miller officiating with burial in the Dodge Cemetery in Beetown, WI. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the Mass.
