Richard J. “Dick” Tesar, age 80 of Prairie du Chien, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 28, 1945, to Robert and Evelyn (Tuckwood) Tesar. Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married Kay Cathman on May 17, 1969, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Glen Haven, WI. Dick worked at the 3M Company in Prairie du Chien as a supervisor and crew leader for many years. He later worked in maintenance at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church and Prairie Catholic Schools, both in Prairie du Chien, until retirement. Dick was a talented knife maker and enjoyed participating in the annual Prairie du Chien Rendezvous for 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Kay; 4 sons Dave (Steph), Doug (Cheryl), Dan (Shelley), and Darren (Wen-Li) Tesar; siblings Doris (Ed) Fuller, Barb (Rick) Groom, Mike (Lynn) Tesar, and Judy (Phil) Becwar; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son Kevin Richard Tesar; and siblings Roger Tesar and Jo Ann Kehoe.
Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Fr. Brandon Guenther officiating, with a private inurnment in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of Mass. Military Honors will be accorded graveside by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard.
