Robert “Bob” E. Bartholomew, Jr., age 75, passed away on Monday December 27 at Agrace Hospice following a courageous struggle with cancer. He was born on November 22, 1946, in Madison, the son of Robert Sr. and Mary Jean (Lafler) Bartholomew. After graduating from Monona Grove High School, he entered the US Navy and served for three years (1964-1967). Bob married Sharon Champion on August 23, 1969, at the Bagley United Methodist Church and had two sons, Scott (Kelly) and David (Tammy). He retired after over 38 years of service with GTE (later becoming CenturyTel). Bob enjoyed many friendships with coworkers, neighbors, fellow country dancers, and camping club members. He also enjoyed spending time outside keeping his yard neat and spending time near or on the Mississippi River. Bob is survived by his wife; two sons; grandsons William and Michael (Autumn); and brothers Eugene and Doug (Lynn). He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be Friday, December 31, 2021, at 11:30 A.M. at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Mary Ann Flourke officiating with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
