Robert J. "Bob" Vance

Robert J. “Bob” Vance, age 84 of Prairie du Chien passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at home surrounded by family. He was born February 24, 1941, to Melvin and Catherine (Weber) Vance. Bob grew up in La Crosse, WI, attending Central High School before furthering his education to become a welder. He later moved to Prairie du Chien, where he worked at Wolf Machine for many years until retirement. He married Sharon Lucey on April 19, 1969, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien, and together they raised 3 children. Sharon later preceded him in death on August 19, 1984. Bob then married Linda Teynor on September 26, 1986, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church. He had a good sense of humor and was active within the community. He enjoyed any given day and could often be found at “the office”. He could always be relied upon to give his true and honest opinion, even if you didn’t ask for it. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Linda; his children Todd (Becky) and Travis (Shannon) Vance, and Tammy (Mark) Harnois; his stepchildren Emily (Cory) Check, Audrey (Brian) Levknecht, and Tim (Alyssa) Riley; his sister Mary Powell; 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Virginia Kunkle; and brothers-in-law Gordon Powell and John Kunkle.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Fr. Brandon Guenther officiating, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the Garrity Funeral Home on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. where there will be a vigil service at 3:30 P.M. Friends may also call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of departure for church. Military Honors will be accorded graveside by the Prairie du Chien Honor Guard.
