Robert William Obmascher

Robert W. Obmascher, age 99, of La Crosse, formerly of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Bethany Riverside in La Crosse, WI. He was born in La Crosse on December 25, 1922, the son of William and Esther (Molzahn) Obmascher. His family moved to Prairie du Chien where he graduated from Prairie du Chien High School. He then served in the US Army for three years during World War II. Upon returning home, he met Dorothy Eggleston in the choir at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Prairie du Chien, and they were married there on November 4, 1948. Bob was a member at St. Peter's for more than 80 years. Bob began as a mechanic at Farmco Plant in Prairie du Chien and became a process engineer at FS (Growmark) driving many miles to plants in Wisconsin and other states for the company until his retirement. Bob was a member of the Prairie du Chien Lodge #8 F.& A.M. for 70 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two of his siblings, Marilyn Rybarczyk and Richard Obmascher.  He is survived by his children Irene Hutchins, Pauline (Paul Ballweg) Obmascher, Sara Obmascher, and John (Paula) Obmascher; his sister Janet Kozelka; grandchildren John (Laura) Hutchins, Kristen (Jeremy) Rindfleisch, Cassie (Joey Bowling) Ballweg, Laura and Andrew Mason, and Kayla and Kalena Obmascher; great-grandchildren Kylie and Clay Hutchins, Emily and Jason Rindfleisch, and Lucy Bowling, and several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held in Prairie du Chien.
