Roselyn J. Stram, age 91 of Prairie du Chien passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born November 21, 1929, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Herman and Bessie (Konichek) Shulka. She grew up working numerous different jobs including Harvey’s Steak House, National Decorated Metals, and Cavanaugh Store in Prairie du Chien. She also worked for McGregor Electronics and at White Front Tavern. She married Charles Stram on February 15, 1945, in Prairie du Chien. Together, they owned and operated the Oak Grove Inn in rural Prairie du Chien for 14 years. Rose was an exceptional cook that drew people into the Oak Grove Inn to enjoy the food she made. She touched many lives through her cooking, donating her famous pickles to different benefits and Christmas candy to friends and family alike. Not only was she the best cook in three counties, but she was also a great mother who always cooked and cared for her family. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for those she loved. She is survived by 3 sons Kenny, Roger (Jean), and Donnie (Janet); 3 daughters Karen Boom, Ruth Lessard, and Bonnie (Gerry) Lansing; 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 5 great, great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles; her parents; her son David; her brothers Ervin, Harold, Bernard, and Ronnie Shulka, and her sisters Dorothy Byers, and Marcella Nussbaum.
There has been a change in the location of the Funeral Mass due to mechanical issues with the air conditioning at St. Gabriel’s Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 2, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at the Garrity Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and on Monday at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of departure for the church.
