Ruthanne M. Copsey, age 67 of Prairie du Chien passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. She was born in Boscobel, WI on October 24, 1955, the daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Frey) Waltz. She graduated from Boscobel High School and later married Terry Copsey. Together they raised three boys, who made her so incredibly proud. She loved being a mother and supporting them during their various sporting events, making sure to never miss one. Ruth attended Southwest Tech in Fennimore in the ADN Program. She worked numerous nursing jobs in and around Boscobel and Prairie du Chien where she loved to care for others. She was an avid sports fan, always following the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Milwaukee Brewers. She also loved to travel and even backpacked across Europe. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her life partner Dave Olson, who spent several years as her companion. She also loved spending time with her siblings, always looking forward to their next get-together. She survived by her three sons, Travis (Kelly), Josh (Megan), Nate (Frankie); her partner Dave Olson and his children Beth and Michele; her brothers Fred Waltz (Kathy Wallin) and Tom (Pam) Waltz; her sisters Sandy Scanlan, Pat (Steve) Updike, Nancy (Mike) Devlin, Michelle (Rich) Bender, Sally (Steve Fritz) Waltz; her special uncle Tom Waltz; her grandchildren Kennedy, Carter, Landon, Charlie, Grayson, Noah, Lane, Creighton, Sloane, Brooklyn, Brogan, Blakely, Alison, and Gavin; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Ed Waltz; sister Judy Waltz; sister-in-law Sue Waltz; and brother-in-law Bernard Scanlan.
A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be Friday, January 6, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington, WI, followed by a Celebration of Ruth’s Life from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Route 35 Pub & Pizza in Bloomington, WI. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date.
