Thomas J. Olson age 79 of Seneca passed away on Saturday February 22, 2020 at his residence in Seneca after a long battle with cancer. He was born on February 3, 1941 in Utica Township the son of Tilmon and Minnie (Munson) Olson. He married Phyllis Sprosty on February 1, 1964 in LaCrosse, WI. Together they had four children: Kathryn (Keith) Dalsing, Christopher (Tammy) Olson, Marcia (Kevin) Kvigne, and Sara (Dean Adelman); ten grandchildren: Beth, Carson, and Graham Dalsing, Benjamin Olson and Abigail (Steven) Heisserer, Briana and Nick Kvigne, and Seth, Nathan, and Parker Adelman. Tom served in the United States Army. Thomas and Phyllis dairy farmed until 1998, while still farming they founded, owned and operated Olson Feed Service until their retirement in 2012. Tom returned to farming in his retirement where he enjoyed his herd of angus beef cattle which he managed until recently. Tom and Phyllis enjoyed many travel adventures all over the world. Tom was an active member of the American Legion Post 308 of Gays Mills, member of the Seneca Fire Department, Seneca Lions Club, Seneca Veterans Memorial Committee and one of the founding members of the Seneca Educational Foundation. The family extends extreme gratitude to the doctors, nurses and hospice staff for the tremendous care they gave Tom and his family. Along with his wife Phyllis of 56 years, children, and grandchildren Tom is survived by his siblings, Elmer (Betty) Olson of Whitley City Kentucky, Leonard (Illene) Olson of Seneca, Janet (Harry) McKinley currently in Florida, and John (Betty) Olson of Seneca as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday February 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Seneca, Reverend Zacharie Beya officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded graveside by the American Legion Post 308. Friends may call the church on Friday February 28, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
