Wayne Brian Mitchell

Wayne B. Mitchell, age 82 of Prairie du Chien passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Crossing Rivers Health surrounded by family. He was born November 3, 1940, to Dorothea (Bily) Mitchell. Wayne married Charlotte “Chotty” Mitchell, who preceded him in death in 1986. He worked in construction in Prairie du Chien for many years until retirement. He later married Irene (Heisz) Plondke on November 28, 1987. Together, they shared a retirement hobby of buying homes, fixing them up, and selling them. Wayne’s wife Irene preceded him in death on November 18, 2019, after 31 years of marriage. He is survived by brother Paul (Mary) Mitchell; cousin Judy Walkner; step-children Dan (Becky) Plondke, Theresa (Todd) Mathison, and Julie (Eric) Fuller; grandchildren Marissa (Sam) Hertzfelt, Savannah (John) Jones, Zach (Megan) Mathison, Katie (Bryce) Crowley, Skylar (Adam Freybler) Mathison, Nicole (Cody Sperry) Sturmer, Jenna Fuller, Bailey, Ashley, and Dakota (Jasmine) Plondke; great-grandchildren Huxley Freybler, Paislee Sperry, and Ella Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepson Scott Plondke, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.   

At Wayne’s request, there will be a private family burial in the Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie du Chien.
