William E. “Bill” Martin age 88 of Bagley passed away Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Prairie Maison Care Center. Bill was welcomed to the world July 29, 1930 by his parents, William and Loretta (Boylen) Martin. He was the eldest of 8 children that were farm raised in Eastman, WI. After graduating from Wauzeka High School, he was drafted into the US Army and began his lifelong traveling journey. He served proudly in Korea and Japan. After returning to Wisconsin he met his future bride to be at a Checkerboard dance. In June of 1955 he married Joanne Breuer and began 64 years of daily joy and travels and eventually reaching all 50 States. You may have known him as a bus driver, farmer, seed corn and feed dealer or electrolux salesman. We called him Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa. He is survived by his wife Joanne, his children, Daniel (Inez), Charles (Cathy), Phillip (Kathy), Kevin (Kim), Geralyn (Craig) Conley, Jolene (Dean) Cooper, Martha (Bryan) Cody, Denise (Mick) Martin Marshall, Shirley (Larry) Gates, Julie (Todd) Fischer, William Jr. (Scott Meister) and Sarah (Gerrick) Childs, son in law Joe Hundt, 38 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, his mother in law Agatha Breuer, his siblings, Ray, Mark, Marcia, Elaine and Ed along with numerous in laws, friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Angela, grandson Stewart, father in law Fred Breuer, a brother Leo and a sister Joan.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Bloomington, WI, Rev. John Meinholz officiating, with interment in St. John’s Cemetery in Patch Grove, WI. Military honors will be accorded graveside. Friends may call at St. Mary’s Church on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday. A parish rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 3:30 PM.
