Jeff and family, very sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I guess this means the hunting group is together once again, gods speed Mr Butteris.

I was very sorry to read of Virgil's passing. During the time I was a legislator serving Crawford County, I enjoyed working with him on a variety of issues. He was a true public servant who cared deeply about good government, his community and our region. He was always a friendly contact for me, and always had positive things to bring the conversation. I consider him a good friend, and a leader. May he rest in peace, and may good memories sustain his family.

Virgil was a great leader of all areas of conservation in Crawford County and just an all around good guy. He worked hard to make the county fair a success. Many years ago, Virgil invited me to talk to the County Board about conservation at a meeting at the PDC Country Club. I was a student at Platteville at the time and had very little public speaking experience. But he was very encouraging and it helped me become more confident. He treated me with respect and I have always a lot of admiration for him.

My deepest condolences for such a good man and his family. I will always remember his help with rides to school in the winter, his fun nature and his guidance from time to time as a young man. Virgil and Betty are a great example to all as a loving couple and excellent parents. May God bless and keep this family during this time.

Greg and family. Even though your dad lived a good long life, it is never easy loosing a parent, no matter how long they live. You have my sympathy for your loss.

I was blessed to have Virgil as a Godfather - As an adult is when we really got to know one another as I was a young performer traveling through for performances in Iowa and Illinois and I'd stop in for a visit (which inevitably meant I'd be driving through the night to get home). Virgil has been a great influence on my career with his knowledge from what the buyer is wanting in acts/performers, stay true to myself, never to sell myself short, and always over deliver. Visits always ended with a kiss on both sides of the cheek. Will miss you Virgil! Thoughts, prayers, and hugs to you Betty and your family!
